World Uni Winter Games - Torino 07
NZ was represented by 17 competitors and officials at January's 23rd World University Winter Games. Over 2,300 competitors and officials from over 50 nations converged on Torino, Italy for the world's second largest snow and ice event. Jesse Teat, the Salt Lake City Olympian, captained the Icebreaker-sponsored NZ team and finished 36th in a world class slalom field.
The event was affected by a lack of snow in the Alps but that did not deter Philip Dominick, Massey Albany's snowboard star, who proved to be the best of the Kiwis with his 9th place in the Boardercross. Best Kiwi finish in the women's went to Otago University's Claire Nash who was 17th in the Boardercross.
